Decayed Baby Teeth - Bottle Caries!  Dr. Major Can Help!

Signs and appearance of baby teeth displaying bottle caries:

Brown baby teeth with fragmented edges
Upper front baby teeth that break easily

When being put to bed with a bottle containing milk, juice or other sugar-containing liquids children who have erupted teeth or are past the age to be weaned are highly susceptible to rotted front teeth. During sleep salivary flow is decreased and liquids taken just before sleep are not cleared from the teeth.  Call us at (423) 499-9300 for more details.

These liquids pool around the upper front baby teeth and create an excellent environment to promote the growth of decay-causing bacteria.  To prevent decay, remove the bottle before the first tooth appears and wipe the child's gums and teeth with a soft cloth before bedtime.

Parents should bring their children at 18 months of age into Spring Creek Dental Care for examination by Dr. Major and recommend home care.
